The Devon Valley Hotel celebrates `Handmade Hospitality` as it enters a new era

Published in News on 19 Jul 2007

dvfoodwinelarge20090506101350 (1)The decision to purchase and significantly refurbish the beautiful Devon Valley Hotel, and surrounding SylvanVale Vineyards, has reaped its reward. The hotel and vineyards were the recipient of both the 2006 and 2007 `Best of Wine Tourism Award` by Great Wine Capitals Global Network in the SA Accommodation Category. The hotel has been transformed into a boutique property with highly individualised characteristics and has officially been awarded Four Star by the South African Tourism Grading Council.

“Our intention was to offer guests a tranquil and luxurious country experience which also makes allowance for the modern requirements of the traveller,” says Craig Seaman, General Manager and partner. “All aspects of this renowned property were carefully choreographed, down to the collection of boutique wines from the active vineyards, as we offer the `Handmade Hospitality` we believe this setting provides,” adds Seaman.

“While hotels compliment our global property portfolio, we also see them as the perfect setting in which to offer guests, and our own existing clients, the finest hospitality from a family-focussed business,” says Alan Louis, Group CEO.

For the past 20 years, the Devon Valley Hotel has also had a very strong relationship with the Protea Hotel Group; but with this renewed strategic focus, the Devon Valley Hotel will be able to extend the impact of its Handmade Hospitality theme.

“The Devon Valley Hotel has enjoyed a positive and mutually beneficial relationship with Protea Hotels for the past two decades but there is a changing of the guard as the Louis Group enters the hospitality arena with fervour,” says Seaman.

The hotel`s management team, excited by the challenges of growing the hotel`s reputation as one of the best accommodation options in the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands, believes that the combination of modern amenities and authentic elegant country charm will make this possible.

“We are currently celebrating the 60th birthday of the hotel and with the creative freedom within the hotel’s strategy, this new period in the property`s history certainly enables us to extend our Handmade Hospitality approach,” adds Seaman.

The Devon Valley Hotel, within the picturesque SylvanVale Vineyards, strategically placed within the  Hotels & Vineyards collection, is set to extend its meaningful impact on the Hospitality and Wine Industries in the Stellenbosch region.
