Craig Seaman, Managing Director of the Louis Group Hotels Spas and Vineyards, proudly handed over a donation of R13 100 to the Graceland Pre-Primary School in Devon Valley Stellenbosch on behalf of the Devon Valley Hotel.
“The Devon Valley Hotel supports this initiative and we are honoured to be involved with such a committed team of care-givers.” says Craig Seaman, whose team from The Devon Valley Hotel also took the opportunity to spoil the kids with Easter eggs and treats.
The donation is the proceeds from an initiative called “The Giving Room” that was established at the hotel as part of the Preferred Hotel Group’s GIFTTS (Great Initiatives for Today`s Society) initiative. For every night occupied in the designated “Giving Room”, 10 per cent of the room’s revenue is donated to a charity of the hotel`s choice – in this instance Graceland Pre-Primary School.
This initiative is also a great way for a guest to make their stay both memorable and also beneficial for the underprivileged in the immediate community.
The Devon Valley Hotel has had a long standing relationship with Graceland Pre- Primary through the Thembalitsha Foundation. The Foundation, in consultation with the local community, established the school and crèche in Devon Valley. Its goal is to enable children to reach their full potential and currently four teachers and helpers from the community take care of 65 children between the ages of two and seven years. The Foundation has also funded the training of four teachers through the Department of Education.
